1. Introduction

Gurukul Home ("Metadee Ai Pvt Ltd", "we", "our", or "us") is an AI-powered educational platform designed for children aged 5 years and above to learn Sanatan Dharma, spirituality, Vedic scriptures, and traditional stories in a child-friendly and playful manner.

The Company is registered in India and operates in accordance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act), along with applicable global child data protection standards.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, process, store, and protect personal data when using the Gurukul Home mobile application ("App").

If you are a parent or legal guardian, please review this policy carefully before allowing your child to use the App.

2. Child-Directed Service & Parental Consent

Gurukul Home is directed toward children. Because our App is designed for children:

  • Verifiable parental consent is required before account activation (OTP/password on parent number/email).
  • All friend requests must be approved via the parent/guardian dashboard.
  • Parents have full control over their child's account and activity.
  • Children cannot publicly share personal information.
  • No advertisements are displayed.
  • We do not sell personal data.
  • A child account cannot be activated without verified parental approval.

3. Information We Collect

We collect only information necessary to provide safe and effective educational services.

A. Information Provided by Parents/Guardians

When creating a parent account, we may collect:

  • Full name
  • Email address
  • Mobile number
  • Encrypted password
  • Payment details (processed securely via third-party providers)
  • Child's first name or nickname
  • Child's age or grade

B. We do NOT collect:

  • Government ID numbers
  • Biometric data
  • Precise GPS location
  • Contact lists
  • Advertising identifiers
  • Behavioral tracking data

C. Automatically Collected Data

5. Subscription & Payments

Gurukul Home operates on a paid subscription model. Payments are processed via:

  • Google Play Billing
  • Apple In-App Purchase
  • Authorized payment gateways

We do not store full card numbers on our servers.

Payment processors handle financial data under their own security policies.

6. Social Features & Friend Requests

The App includes controlled social functionality:

  • Friend requests require parental approval.
  • Parents manage connections through a dedicated dashboard.
  • No public chatrooms.
  • Restricted and monitored communication (only chat and voice no photos/videos sharing)
  • Parents can disable social features at any time.

7. How We Use Personal Data

We use data to:

  • Create and manage accounts

  • Personalize AI-based learning

  • Process subscriptions
  • Communicate with parents
  • Maintain safety and security
  • Comply with legal requirements

We do not use children's data for marketing or advertising.

8. Legal Basis (India – DPDP Act)

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023:

  • Data is collected for lawful and specific purposes.
  • Data minimization principles apply.
  • Parents may withdraw consent at any time.
  • Appropriate safeguards are implemented.

9. Data Sharing

We do not sell or rent personal data. We may share limited data with:

11. Data Retention & Deletion

Data is retained only as long as necessary to provide services (e.g., subscription duration), meet legal requirements (e.g., 2-year financial records under Indian law), or resolve disputes (typically up to 1 year post-resolution). Upon account deletion or consent withdrawal, all personal data is erased within 7 days, except where retention is mandated by law.

Account & Data Deletion

Parents or legal guardians may request deletion of their account and their child's personal data at any time. Account deletion can be initiated directly through the Parent Dashboard within the App or by contacting us at contact@metadeegroup.com.

Upon receiving a verified deletion request:

  • The parent account and all associated child profiles will be permanently deactivated.
  • Personal data will be deleted from active systems within 7 days of request.
  • Certain limited information may be retained only if required for legal, regulatory, fraud prevention, billing dispute resolution, or security purposes.
  • Backup copies will be securely erased in accordance with our data retention schedule.

Once deletion is completed, the account cannot be restored, and all learning progress, subscriptions, and associated data will be permanently removed.

If the App is uninstalled without submitting a deletion request, account data will not automatically be deleted. A formal deletion request must be submitted through the methods described above.

12. Parental Rights

Parents may:

  • Access their child's data
  • Correct inaccuracies
  • Withdraw consent
  • Delete accounts
  • Restrict processing
  • Request information about stored data

Requests can be submitted via the dashboard or by contacting us.

13. No Advertising Policy

Gurukul Home:

  • Does not display third-party ads
  • Does not use behavioral tracking
  • Does not monetize user data

14. International Access

If accessed outside India, data may be processed in India or other secure jurisdictions with appropriate safeguards.

15. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated via:

  • In-app notification
  • Updated "Last Updated" date
